Queen Elizabeth II, whose seven decades on the throne of the United Kingdom was a longer reign than any other British monarch, failed at the age of 96.
The Queen” failed peacefully” on Thursday autumn at Balmoral Castle, her estate in the Scottish mounds, royal family officers blazoned.
Her son Charles, 73, is now king and will be known as King Charles III. officers said he remains at Balmoral and will return to London on Friday.
” The death of my cherished mama, Her Majesty The Queen, is a moment of the topmost sadness for me and all members of my family,” the king said in a statement.” We mourn profoundly the end of a cherished Sovereign and a important- favored mama. I know her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, the Realms, and the Commonwealth, and by numerous people around the world.”
Elizabeth had been placed under medical supervision before Thursday, officers said.” Following farther evaluation this morning, The Queen’s croakers
are concerned for Her Majesty’s health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision,” the palace had said in a statement.

In recent times, the queen had taken on smaller public duties, sometimes canceling appearances in which her attendance was formerly tradition. Mobility issues had troubled her in recent months, and she had taken to spending much of her time at Windsor Castle, the family’s country estate near London, and at Balmoral, the castle in Scotland.
In February, she contracted COVID- 19, which she latterly described as leaving her” exhausted.”
